— YOUTH ENGAGEMENT
AT THE RODEO —
SHINING SPURS SESSION
Part of our Kidz Rodeo Experience, the Shining Spurs program is a hands-on disability-friendly session that is an accessible, sensory-considerate space designed for children/youth, families and older adults alike, as well as anyone preferring a calmer rodeo experience and more focused participation.
BLAZIN' ROUNDUP
Part of our Kidz Rodeo Experience, the Blazin’ Roundup event is for youth and families, and features select competitions in an abbreviated rodeo event along with interactive opportunities for attendees. Youth learn about rodeo events; animal safety; see horses and horsemanship in action; and ask contestants/crew questions.
HORSESHOE SCRAMBLE
This fun event provides youth with the opportunity to be part of the rodeo event action, as they make their way to the dirt to gather hidden horseshoes on the announcer's signal. They can redeem the horseshoes for prizes, plus they receive a certificate for their participation.
CRAFT CORNER
At each rodeo event, Craft Corner allows youth to unleash their creativity – whether its coloring books/sheets, decorating cowboy hats, frames or horseshoes, or making knots or braided lassos.
MISS BLACK RODEO USA PAGEANT
We crown a rodeo queen and runner-up through our Miss Black Rodeo USA (ages 18-28) division. The program – which involves them in rodeo events from grand entry to fan engagement – empowers young women to showcase horsemanship, build confidence, display leadership and be involved in mentorship.
SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
Recognizing the need to empower and to inspire the future generation of rodeo professionals, we provide scholarships to youth to pursue equestrian or agricultural studies, rodeo competitions and other education-related needs.
BICYCLE RODEO
Bicycle Rodeo promotes riding safety for youth 12 and under. Participants do an obstacle course after completing training on making sure their helmet is secured properly, testing their brakes, and getting the right pressure in their tires. The receive a certificate and win prizes.
— COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT BEYOND THE DIRT —
MEET & GREETS
We partner with community organizations and businesses to give fans up-close-and-personal interactions with contestants, rodeo organizers and other fans.
HEALTH & WELLNESS
We stress the power of movement with Line Dancing Sessions – where fans learn line dancing from community instructors – and Yoga Sessions that allows fans to join contestants to jumpstart their morning prior to the rodeo.
TRAIL RIDES
We support and showcase community riding associations and ranches, which gather all skill levels to connect, learn and ride confidently in a supportive environment.
SCHOOL/COMMUNITY VISITS
We work with schools and community organizations to offer opportunities centered around rodeo life and Western history and culture. Our programs fall under two categories: Read & Reign, for events featuring books from acclaimed authors; and Learn & Uplift, for curated/custom sessions with creative storytelling, hands-on activities, thought-provoking discussion, and more.
PUNCH & PAINT • SIP & PAINT
Punch & Paint brings alive blank canvases with a Western/rodeo theme. Youth are instructed by a local artist. The event also features a fun music playlist, interesting facts/trivia and light refreshments.
Sip & Paint events are geared for adults.
WIND DOWN WEDNESDAY
Connective events geared toward rodeo fan adults who meet at local ranch communities to learn about ranch living, while enjoying a natural landscape, wine tastings, artistic options, games and more.
